Russia has nuclear weapons capable of killing billions of people, says American edition 19FortyFive.
The publication claims that at present Russia has the largest and one of the most ambitious nuclear potentials in the world.
It is noted that total USA, United Kingdom, France, Israel, Russia, China, India, Pakistan and North Korea have about 13,500 warheads. “But the United States and Russia are indisputable leaders on the arena of nuclear weapons, having respectively about 5,800 and 6,400 nuclear warheads, – writes the publication.
The publication states that “nuclear weapons still remains in the center of the Moscow military strategy”, allowing the “Kremlin to pursue its regional goals and expand the sphere of its influence without the concern that the United States or NATO will begin a full-scale conflict.”
The publication reminds that Russia has a nuclear triad, consisting of terrestrial, marine and air components. The publication notes that, in particular, Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles may carry up to 1189 nuclear warheads, and Russian nuclear submarines are about 624 nuclear warheads.
In October, “Izvestia”, referring to the sources in the Russian Defense Ministry, wrote that Vilyuchinsk Naval Base in Kamchatka, which is called “an osine nest”, will be expanded and made almost invulnerable to the enemy.
