Terrorists have intensified their activities in the north of Afghanistan. The head of the Tajik Foreign Ministry of Siroddin Muhriddin reported during the meeting of ministers of countries neighboring Afghanistan, writes TASS.
According to him, the activation of terrorists was noticed in the northern Afghan provinces bordering with Tajikistan.
Mukhriddin also stated that citizens of neighboring countries participate in terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan. He noted that the states of the region need to unite efforts to eliminate potential threats, and stressed that indifference to the situation in Afghanistan can lead to a “new prolonged civil war” in the republic.
At the same time, the Foreign Minister added that Tajikistan did not intend to recognize the current Afghan government, formed by representatives of the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization prohibited in Russia), since it came to power by force and does not take into account the opinion of the entire people, including Tajik Diaspora. “Tajiks should occupy places in the new government, as they constitute 46 percent of the country’s total population,” he explained.
Earlier, the Minister of Defense of Tajikistan, Colonel-General Sherali Mirzo called the catastrophic situation in Afghanistan due to the lack of a legitimate and inclusive government and the availability of systematic violations of human rights. In his opinion, this leads to the further transformation of the country into the sector of international terrorism.
