Researchers from Sweden showed that people who received a combination of Doses of Vaccine Astrazeneca and MRNAV vaccines, the risk of infection with coronavirus infection was lower than those who received two doses of a vector vaccine. Article of scientists from the University of Umeå was published in The Lancet Regional Health – Europe.
On average, the period of observation of more than 700 thousand participants amounted to 2.5 months. During this time, the risk of infection in 94,000 received a combination of Astrazeneca and Pfizer vaccines, decreased by 67 percent, and at those 16 thousand to whom the second dose was given to the MODERNA drug – by 79 percent. Average efficiency for both vaccines amounted to 68 percent. In total, 187 people became coronavirus infection. At the same two doses of Astrazeneca 430 thousand people made up 50 percent.
researchers emphasize that when evaluating the effectiveness, they took into account all the risk factors COVID-19. What is important, they are noted, the evaluation of the effectiveness of combinations is applied to the “delta” -variant SARS-COV-2 – who has become more infected by the participants in the study. Cases of thromboembolic complications for all combinations were extremely rare, specialists emphasize.
Earlier, a number of European countries have suspended the vaccination with Astrazeneca drug over 65 years due to the detection of thrombosis in the intimidated patients. To all those who have already received the first dose of the vector vaccine, it was recommended to get a second dose of mRNA-vaccines.
