Russian scientist Vladimir Svetlov died on the 87th year of life. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the concern in Almaz-Antey.
“With a deep sprinkling, we inform that on October 18, 2021, an outstanding scientist in the field of the establishment of air defense programs Vladimir Grigorievich Svetlov died on the 87th year of life,” the text says.
Vladimir Svetlov was born on April 16, 1935 in Moscow. After the end of the MVTU named after Bauman Svetlov began work in the ICD “Torch”. In 1991, he became the general designer and the Director General of the ICD. In 1980, he received the USSR State Prize for creating an anti-aircraft missile 5B55 for the S-300P anti-aircraft missile complex. He was also the general designer of the rocket 51t6 for the system of missile defense of the Moscow Industrial Region – for this development in 1997 he was awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation.
Svetlov is the author of more than 100 scientific works on rocket technology and 16 inventions. He was also co-author of a textbook for universities “Design of anti-aircraft managed missiles”, which was published in 1999.
