Washington Metro decided to suspend exploitation more than half of the wagons before finding out the circumstances of the train’s departure from the rails on October 12. This reports Reuters.
This decision was made after defects were discovered during the security check, similar to the problem arising in the recent PE. “As part of the investigation of the reasons for the removal of the train rails on the blue line, the metro displays all the cars of the 7000 series, which make up about 60 percent of its railway park,” the message says.
Without these wagons in the subway will run about 40 trains, the interval between which will be 30 minutes. The inhabitants of the American capital have already warned that this can lead to significant delays in the peak hours.
The incident occurred on October 12 between the stations of Rosslin and Arlington Cemetery and led to the closure of a part of the blue line. According to The Washington Post, as a result of the incident, none of 187 passengers suffered.
In September, more than 50 people were injured in the gathering of a passenger train with rails in Montana to the United States. As a result of the accident, three people died.
