Ensuring the growth rates of Russia’s GDP in 2022-2024 at the level of 3 percent is an “ambitious task”. This is stated in the conclusion of the Accounts Chamber for the federal budget project for 2022 and the planning period of 2023-2024, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the document, over the past 10 years, the growth of the Russian economy has not exceeded 2.8 percent per year, despite the fact that investing in fixed assets in 2017 and 2018 increased by 5 percent. The agency noted that the constant growth of GDP for three percent per year, as indicated in the forecast of the socio-economic development of Russia, is a “rather ambitious task.”
Earlier, the World Bank has changed the forecast for the growth of the Russian economy in 2021. According to the document, Russia’s GDP this year will grow by 4.3 percent, and not by 3.2 percent, as expected earlier. It is noted that the World Bank has improved its forecast in connection with the restoration of domestic demand in the country, an increase in energy prices and additional fiscal support. At the same time, the forecast for the growth of the Russian economy for 2022 was worse from 3.2 to 2.8 percent, and for 2023 – from 2.3 to 1.8 percent.
