Afghanistan: number of women with mental disorders has grown

In the provinces of Afghanistan, the number of mentally illness due to the discriminatory taliban policy and their attitudes towards Afghan women (Taliban, prohibited in Russia, a terrorist organization). According to doctors, social isolation, lack of work and education led to an increase in the number of patients in the departments of psychological assistance. So, according to Vahida Norzada, who is heading of psychological health in Gerat’s province, among patients 75 percent – women.

Noorrice indicated that it was domestic violence, the closure of schools and universities for girls and economic problems is the main causes of worsening the mental health of women. He stressed that families should pay attention to the state of their relatives and immediately contact the hospital if they see any mental disorders.

According to the statistics of the Herat’s regional hospital, at least 250 mentally ills visit the hospital daily. Doctors stated that with the growth of unemployment and the common plurality of Afghanistan, the number of patients with mental disorders will grow.
