Against a representative of the opposition in Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and the former Minister of Culture Pavel Latushko opened a new criminal case for the unauthorized assignment of title or power, as well as the creation of representative offices abroad. October 1, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with CNN spoke of his former rival Svetlana Tikhanov phrase “I am not fighting with women.” He also noted that no one forced her to leave the country.
Alexander Lukashenko became president of Belarus in 1994. In August 2020, he once again participated in the elections. The CEC stated that Lukashenko scored 80 percent of the votes, Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent. The country began mass protests that lasted for several months. A number of opposition politicians and activists were arrested or left Belorussia. Tikhanovskaya is located in Lithuania.
