Negotiations took place on October 9 and 10 in the capital of Qatar – Doha.
“On Saturday and Sunday there were two days of meetings … They took place in a business atmosphere, they were mostly positive,” said Price, adding that the interaction with the Taliban was led on a “practical and pragmatic basis.”
According to him, on Tuesday, October 12, another meeting was held with the representatives of the movement. It was attended by the United States, EU countries, as well as other “allies and partners” Washington. “Among the participants were the United States, EU, Germany, France, Norway, Italy, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, Switzerland and Spain,” said the representative of the State Department.
At the same time, a spokesman for the White House, Jen Psaki, said that the United States did not intend to change the position regarding the freezing of the financial assets of the previous government of Afghanistan on the basis of the G20 virtual meeting. She stressed that the United States does not intend to provide access to these funds.
