From the situation in Afghanistan, the “greater benefits” should be extracted. This was spoken by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, the press service of the head of the republic reports.
The Kazakh leader held a meeting with the heads of delegations participating in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Ministers of Meetings on Interaction and Confidence Measures in Asia (CICA). As part of the event, he spoke out about the situation in Central Asia.
Tokayev stressed that the states of the region are “interested in the return of Afghanistan to the previous direction,” and declared the intention to extract from this advantage. “The call of Kazakhstan is simple and clear – we strive for great benefits, and not to a big game in the heart of Asia,” he added.
The President also noted that in the face of a changing strategic situation, Asia turns into the “main field of a geopolitical battle”. According to him, in this situation, the Hopes are imposed on the formation of the “new configuration of Asian security, cooperation and general prosperity”.
SVMD was created at the initiative of Kazakhstan in 1992 to ensure peace and stability in Asia. Today, 27 states of the region are members of the forum, and nine countries and five international organizations participate in its work as observers.
Previously, Tokayev said that Kazakhstan is ready to establish relations with the new authorities of Afghanistan, presented by the militants of the Taliban radical movement (recognized by terrorist and prohibited in Russia), for the sake of resolving acute humanitarian issues.
