Russia: conducted a unique experiment with neutrine oscillations

Neutrino Observatory Physics Institute of Nuclear Research published the results of an experiment on the study of the transition of electron neutrino into a sterile state, when the particle does not participate in any interactions except gravitational. This is reported in a press release on the SDUNUKI website.rf.

Unique studies were carried out on Galya-Germany neutrine telescope in the Baksan neutrino observatory, which is located at a depth of four kilometers in the Mountain of Andyrchi in the Baksansky Gorge. For the experiment, a compact source of electronic neutrinos based on the CR-51 isotope was developed with a record intensity of 3.4 MKI (megacuri). The source was installed in the center of Gallium targets.

scientists measured the rate of formation of Germany atoms in the Gali target. The results obtained were about 20 percent below the expected. This confirms the results of previous studies, which also recorded the deficit of the number of neutrino, which received the name of the Gallium anomaly. This anomaly is the result of transitions or oscillation between the electronic and sterile state of neutrino.
