By the end of the year, two launches of the intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) “Sarmat” will be held in Russia. Rockets will be launched within the test. This is reported by TASS with reference to the source in the defense and industrial complex.
The source noted that this year two starts of the Sarmat rocket are planned during the flight testing (LCI). The first launch of the rocket from the cosmodrome Plesetsk will be held in November. Tests rocket will continue in 2022.
According to the source, state tests will begin after the terminal end. The first regiment with the missiles “Sarmat” can take up combat duty in the rocket troops of strategic appointment (RVSN) until the end of 2022.
In September, Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Roskosmos State Corporation, said that in the future “Sarmat” will be the basis of the nuclear shield of Russia. In August, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated that the tests of the Sarmat rocket would be completed in 2022. According to TASS, during a visit to the Krasmash plant in Krasnoyarsk, he noted that the first missiles “Sarmat” will be sent by RVSN in 2022.
