NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called the threat to the Alliance the economic development of China, its close cooperation and increasing contacts with Russia. With such a statement, he acted as a meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Lisbon, broadcast available in Youtube.
According to the Gensen, Russia has become “aggressive”, and the global balance has changed with the rise of the PRC. He also stressed that the Military Block intends to approve a new strategic concept during the summit in Madrid next year.
“China seeks to become a leading economy of the world, making significant progress in creating devastating technologies and investing large sums into its nuclear potential, working more and more closely with Russia,” concluded Stoltenberg.
Earlier in NATO reported on the expulsion of several employees of the Russian mission at the Alliance from Brussels. It is specified that only ten diplomats will remain in the mission instead of 20. It is noted that the reason for such a decision is “hostile activity” of Russia in the member countries of the Alliance.
Stoltenberg explained that the expulsion of Russian diplomats is associated with their belonging to “undeclared intelligence agents.” He stressed that expulsion is not related to a specific event, but is a manifestation of vigilance, “since the employees of the Russian mission carry out activities that do not correspond to their status.”
