At island of Vulcan’s palm tree collapsed on island, Northern Slope of Crater

Volcano, erupting on the ridge Cumbre Vieja on the island of Palma (Canary Islands, Spain), collapsed the northern slope of the crater. This is reported by the Volcanological Institute Canar (Involcan) on its page in twitter .

After the collapse of the northern part of the crater, the streams of lava flowed from a three-storey house from the volcano. According to the latest data, Lava covered 497 hectares of the territory of Palma Island. More than 1.1 thousand buildings were destroyed. From the island urgently evacuated about six thousand people.

The eruption of the volcano began on September 19 near Lake Cabez de Vaca in the municipality of El Paso. According to forecasts of September 22, the natural disaster should have stopped 84 days after the start of the eruption.
