Ali Rabeh can be satisfied. Two months after having seen its election of 2020 invalidated by the Council of State, this former director of cabinet of Benoît Hamon was re-elected Mayor of Trappes (Yvelines) Sunday 10 October, from the first round of the partial municipal.
His victory is all the more outstanding that he was facing an unlikely alliance between his two main opponents, and that the campaign gave rise to strong tensions. Ali Rabeh found himself accused of managing the city in an authoritarian, partisan, and worse, to have dropped the Republic. A hypersensitive subject to hatches, this popular municipality of 32,000 inhabitants from which Omar Sy and Jamel Debbouze, but also dozens of young parties for the Jihad in Iraq and then in Syria.
“Reelection from the first round, facing a zemmourized and clientelist right. What pride, thank you to the Trappists!”, Ali Rabeh with the announcement of the first results. Its success maintains the anchor on the left of this city, managed since 1945 by the Communists, the Socialists then the friends of Benoît Hamon. He was greeted by Julien Bayou, the boss of ecologists, as by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the candidate of France unsuitable for the presidential election. “We have obviously not succeeded in convincing that a republican alternative was possible, nor explain the double game of Ali Rabeh or the danger of the methods it uses”, admitted its competitors taken by Othman Nasrou (Free !).
The score is net. The list conducted by Ali Rabeh (generation.s), 36 years, gets 58% of the vote, well beyond the 50% mark. That of Othman Nasrou, one of the lieutenants of Valérie Pécresse to the Regional Council, allied for the occasion at the former Socialist Mayor Guy Malandain, collects only 35% of the vote. The rest of the newsletters is shared between the lists of the various left Luc Miserey (5%) and those of the working activist Patrick Planque (2%).
“An analysis error”
The deviation lends the flank at the dispute in 2020. That year, the victory of Ali Rabeh in the second round is only 161 votes. Othman Nasrou immediately rises against the result of the ballot, and gets savings.
Between the two towers, Ali Rabeh promoted his candidacy by distributing thousands of masks against the Cvid-19, accompanied for some of his photo, without integrating this expense into his campaign accounts. “An analysis error”, he recognizes. The Administrative Tribunal then the Council of State therefore cancel the election.
