Perhaps Europe will have to ask more Russian gas than it was agreed. This was stated by the Supreme Representative of the European Union on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel in an interview with the EL PAIS newspaper.
So the diplomat responded to the question of pressure, which Moscow allegedly renders with the help of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. According to Borrel, the Russian side really uses the project for its own purposes. However, the EU countries still have a need for Russian gas.
Earlier, the exchange price of gas in Europe collapsed below 1000 dollars per thousand cubic meters. At the same time, for several weeks in September and early October, the cost of gas in Europe continuously grew, setting several records. On October 6, the fuel cost 1924 dollars per thousand cubic meters. The Financial Times newspaper believes that quotes asked after the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the readiness of Moscow to stabilize energy prices in Europe.
