Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently working on the update of the concept of Russia’s foreign policy. He stated this at a meeting with graduates of universities, first accepted for the diplomatic service, reports TASS.
Lavrov noted that the new diplomats will also contribute to the formation of common approaches and foreign policy strategies at the present stage. The minister stressed that they will have to work in the responsible period of Russian history. “This only adds excitement, honestly. Makes thinking creatively, always having the main purpose of our foreign policy as the main task – ensuring the most favorable external conditions for the country’s internal development,” the head of the department resums.
Previously, Lavrov said that the trusting relationship between the European Union (EU) and Russia was strongly undermined, and their degradation acquires chronic. According to the diplomat, the situation has come so far due to the “whole series of one-sided measures from Brussels.” “If you take a whole relationship between Russia and the European Union, then they can be called seven-year missed opportunities,” said the Foreign Minister.
