In Russia, the modernization of the guidance system of high-precision weapons begins, as well as the creation of high-elliptical and small navigation satellites of the GLONASS system. This was told in an interview with RIA Novosti General Director of Information Satellite Systems Systems Nikolay Tesotov.
According to him, the creation of a high-elliptical segment is included in the GLONASS subprogramss of the Space Activities of Russia until 2030. “A contract is being prepared, the tactical and technical requirements for the system and spacecraft are prescribed. We hope that the financing of work will begin this year,” he said.
Also within the framework of the same work, from this year, the creation of a platform for a small navigation apparatus will begin.
Earlier in September at the Space Development Meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of industry development. He stressed that a set of measures aimed at maintaining the industry was not approved. The President recalled that in April, the Government was instructed to prepare a set of measures to achieve long-term goals in the field of space. Putin noted that a number of solutions, including the GLONASS system development program until 2030, has already been adopted.
