The creation of a shipping channel through the Baltic Spit is necessary to Poland to transfer tanks in case of war with Russia, suggests Dr. Military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov. In a conversation with “Ribbon.ru,” he explained that such actions can be aimed at improving infrastructure in the interests of NATO.
The decision of the Polish authorities to break through the shipping transport channel through the Baltic Spit is not related to economic reasons. This was announced on October 8, the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov said. According to the head of the region, the new channel is necessary for Warsaw solely in order to be able to quickly transfer his tanks through the Baltic Spit.
“Poles, apparently, decided to transfer military equipment and generally troops with the help of landing vessels – suggested Sivkov. – It can be aimed at improving NATO infrastructure in the interests of countering Russia and in case of a possible war. But in general, some kind of history strange. “
Polish authorities decided to build a canal through the Baltic Spio back in 2016. The first stage of the work was completed in June 2020. Complete construction fully planned in 2022.
