Belarusian military participate in ESTD teachings in Tajikistan

Belarusian military will go to Tajikistan to participate in the military exercises of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO) in connection with the unstable domestic political situation in Afghanistan. It is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus in Telegram-Channel.

According to the defense ministry, Manevur “Interaction-2021”, “Search-2021” and “Echelon-2021” will be held from 18 to 23 October at the Harbmaidon polygon, which is 80 kilometers from the Afghan border. Belarus will present 256 servicemen and five units of equipment.

In the exercises, the units of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan will also take part. In total, more than 2.7 thousand military personnel and over 500 units of equipment will be attracted to the events. In addition, the forces and means of reconnaissance will be involved, the collective forces of operational response (HRS) of the CSTO and the means of logistics.

On September 16, during the session of the Collective Security Council, the leaders of the CSTO member countries announced large-scale exercises on the border of Tajikistan with Afghanistan. They agreed to make more efforts to ensure security and combine threats outgoing from Afghanistan.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who was present at the session, called on the West after the events in Afghanistan to abandon the widespread promotion of “reference” democratic values. The politician also focused on the fact that global tensions led to a negative trend of power resolution of conflicts.
