Poland puts its constitution above laws of European Union

The Constitutional Court of Poland recognized the rule of the National Constitution on the laws of the European Union (EU). This was stated by Prime Minister of the Republic of Mateush Morrazetsky, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the opinion of Polish judges, the Constitution of the Republic is above any other legal norms. It must underlie the activities of all state bodies of Poland.

The Constitutional Court also ruled that the President of Poland has the right to nominate candidates for the position of judge of the Supreme Court. The issue of whether the EU authorities check the independence of the judges appointed on the presidential recommendation.
