Head of the Austrian Oil and Gas Company OMV Alfred Stern expressed hope for the early start of gas supplies to Europe by Northern Stream-2. He stated this at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, RIA Novosti reports.
The launch of the gas pipeline will help stabilize the gas market and establish a balance between supply and demand, says Stern. In addition, the head of the German energy company Uniper Claus Dieter Mabach stated that the North Stream-2 will become an important part of the gas infrastructure in Europe.
Construction of “Northern Flow-2” ended on September 10. The length of each of the two gas pipe threads is 1234 kilometers, the total bandwidth is 55 billion cubic meters per year. The object goes from Russia to Europe along the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
Before the start of the gas pipeline, it must certify European companies. The object certification may take several months. In early October, Denmark, in the territorial waters of which the site “Northern Flow-2” passes, reported on all the requirements, after which the test gas injection was started in the first thread pipe to achieve volume and pressure.
