Belgrade and Moscow are negotiating the conclusion of a new long-term gas contract. This was stated by the head of the Russian-Serbian Intergovernmental Committee on Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation (IPC) Sadd Popovich, the quotation leads RIA Novosti.
“This is a very difficult time when the price of gas took off 10-20 times, Russia again together with us. Just negotiations on the new long-term contract between Gazprom and Serbiyagaz,” the Serbian minister stressed. Discussion will affect the issue of direct gas supplies from Russia to Serbia.
TASS notes that negotiations on gas supply conditions will continue later on Thursday, October 7. They will be held by the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Yuri Borisov and Serbian President Alexander Vucich.
On October 6, Vucich himself admitted that he decided to ask for help from the Russian leader Vladimir Putin because of a sharp rise in price of gas in Europe.
