Russian authorities invited the delegation of the Taliban (the movement is recognized as terrorist and prohibited in the Russian Federation) to Moscow to participate in the negotiations on the settlement of the political situation in Afghanistan. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the Director of the Second Department of Asia Foreign Ministry of Russia Zamira Kabulova.
Thus, the new Afghan authorities will be able to take part in the meeting of the Moscow Format on Afghanistan, which will be held on October 20.
The fact that Moscow and Kabul discusses the possibility of arrival of the delegation of the Taliban to Russia, it became known even at the end of September. In addition, after the seizure of power in Afghanistan in mid-August, 2021, the Taliban said more than once that they are counting on the invitation to come with a visit to Moscow.
