Brother of the former President Venezuela Hugo Chávez arrives in Belarus, transfers BelTA.
Special Salads of President Venezuela Adan Chavez Frias will meet with the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Natalia Kochanova and Head of the Chamber of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko. He will also read the lecture “The Ideas of Bolivar and Chavez today” in the Belarusian State University and is in charge of the opening of the Transatlantic Art-Messidge exhibition, on which the picture “Our Hugo” will be presented.
Hugo Chavez died in March 2013 from the oncological disease. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced a three-day mourning in the country and flew to Venezuela to the funeral. He called Chávez “One of the greatest state and public figures of modernity, an inflexible hero, a fiery patriot and a fighter for independence,” as well as a reliable friend and brother.
Nicholas Maduro became the new president of Venezuela. In January 2019, mass protests began in the country. Parliament Speaker Juan Guido headed the opposition and proclaimed himself a temporary head of state. He was recognized by a number of Western countries led by the United States. However, Maduro managed to keep in power.
