Poland’s authorities will attract military helicopters to protect borders with Belarus against the background of the increased number of illegal migrants. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Mariusch Blazak in his twitter .
According to him, ensuring the protection of the border is currently the key task of the Armed Forces (Sun) and the Employees of the Border Guard of Poland. The head of the Ministry of Defense noted that three thousand soldiers were already located along the line of the border. Now, the Blazhak added, air patrolling will also be carried out over the border.
On October 2, the Poland’s Lower Chamber of Parliament (Sejm) approved the decision of the Government to extend the emergency (PE) introduced into areas bordering with Belarus due to the migration crisis. PE applies to a cross-border area of three kilometers wide.
The decision on its extension affects about 200 settlements and implies a ban on carrying out mass and entertainment activities, police duty in reinforced mode, document verification. In addition, there can be no persons who do not live there, do not work or do not learn.
A state of emergency was introduced in Poland on September 2 for a period of 30 days. The reason was the migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the EU countries, which began in May after the threats of the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, to weaken control over the flow of illegal immigrants and drug trafficking. At the same time, large groups of migrants from the countries of the Middle East and Africa began to storm the boundaries of Lithuania in search of asylum in European countries.
