Hungary: rise in gas prices with an error of European Commission

Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban called the rise in gas prices for the European Commission. In his opinion, the European Commission need to change some rules, otherwise everyone will suffer. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the premiere statement.

Orban did not specify what kind of error it is about. According to him, Hungary has not affected Hungary, but the country is opposed to other challenges, in particular, related to the “Green” Covenant of the European Union, the taxation of household owners, apartments and cars.

In 2019, Green Covenant for Europe was adopted, according to which the EU should achieve zero emissions of greenhouse gases and refusal from fossil energy sources for 2050. Hydrogen should be played a special role in its implementation.

Earlier managing UK “Alfa-Capital” “Eduard Harin said that gas prices in Europe can potentially reach two thousand dollars per thousand cubic meters. According to him, Europe is now forced to compete with Asia for the supply of free volumes of gas, therefore such a frontier is not excluded. Harin added that the cost of gas is closely related to how the upcoming winter will be colder or warmer by medium-historical values.

On October 5, it was reported that the cost of December gas futures in Europe during the trading on the ICE exchange re-installed a record. At 15:26 Moscow time, they traded $ 1456 per thousand cubic meters. After that, five EU countries proposed to investigate the reasons for a record rush of gas prices.
