Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the creation of new jobs in coal mining regions that will not be associated with the coal sector, writes RIA Novosti. According to the head of state, such measures will help develop the regional economy.
“It is necessary to engage in the diversification of the economy, to actively invest in infrastructure. Special attention should be paid to the coal-mining regions, creating new jobs outside the coal sector,” said the President at the Energy Development Meeting Meeting. Putin also reminded those present that orders on this occasion were already given earlier, and asked to submit a detailed report on what actions were already taken.
At the event, the President also noted that the energy crisis in Europe is an example of how sharp and rapid actions in the energy market lead to serious imbalances. As one of the mistakes of the region, Putin called the policy of short-term gas contracts.
Gas prices in Europe on October 6 approached two thousand dollars per thousand cubic meters, showing an increase of 60 percent in two days. According to the deputy chairman of the European Commission (EC) of France Timmermans, the demand for energy resources has now turned out to be maximum for 25 years.
