Anthropologist explained origins of “Eternal War” in Afghanistan

The origins of the “Eternal War” in Afghanistan lie in the desire of various factions to maintain the balance of power within the country to prevent mutual destruction. In an interview with Lente.ru, a professor of anthropology and sociology of the Geneva Center for Humanitarian Research Alessandro Monsuti was shared.

Anthropologist said that members of one family can intentionally adjusted to different military forces so that, with any scenario, one of them was in the winners and could take care of the rest. Such a “risk distribution” prevents the establishment of a full-fledged world in the country, but at the same time excludes the war on total destruction. At the same time, military conflicts are becoming a way to maintain equilibrium within society. “So in a sense of war – this is almost a public system that reproduces itself,” Monsuti explained.

September 15 “Taliban” (recognized by a terrorist organization and prohibited in Russia) announced the desire to create an Afghan regular army. According to militants, it will allow preventing the inner war in Afghanistan. At the expense of regular troops, the Taliban plans to defeat the rebels in Panjshter. The militants have already begun forced mobilization of young Afghans in Kabul and apply cruel punishment to those who refuse to go fight.

May 1 began the official conclusion of US troops and the North Atlantic Alliance countries from the Afghan territories. After that, the situation in the country was aggravated, the forces of the Taliban were activated. On August 15, the militants announced the establishment of control throughout Afghanistan. On August 31, the entire foreign contingent left the republic.
