Head of the Monetary Policy Department of the Central Bank of Russia (Central Bank of the Russian Federation) Cyril Tremasov highly appreciated the likelihood of revision of the inflation forecast for 2021. He told about it in an interview with the newspaper Izvestia.
As the tremors reminded, in July, the forecast for annual inflation was in the region of 5.7-6.2 percent. “According to the latest statistics, we see that here we are moving more than the upper limit here, so the revision of the forecast for inflation towards increasing is highly likely,” he noted.
A similar situation is also folded with the forecast of GDP, which in July was 4-4.5 percent of the growth in the year. According to Tremasov, at the moment the statistics show that the economy moves along the upper border of this forecast. Therefore, if in October the forecast will be reviewed, then, most likely, it will increase it.
Earlier, Russian banks began to massively raise rates on deposits following the growth of the key rate of the Central Bank. At the moment it is 6.75 percent per annum.
