US should keep a strategic security dialogue with its main competitors, in particular, with Russia and China. To this, Washington called Mallory Stewart, nominated by the American leader Joe Biden to the post of Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Check and Compliance with the agreements in this field, reports TASS.
According to the diplomat, interaction with the allies is not the only important tool in the “mosaic” of international diplomacy, and contacts with competitors in the person of Moscow and Beijing are no less significant. “It is important to have the ability to interact in the sphere of safety, even during periods of tension and contradictions in bilateral relations,” she concluded.
Stewart stressed that the Bayden administration supports a dialogue with the Russian side of strategic stability, and also seeks to regular contacts with PRC on nuclear and other threats to international security.
