Lithuania: more than 700 illegals escaped from camps

More than 700 foreigners escaped from the camps for refugees and migration centers in Lithuania since the beginning of the year in an attempt to get to Western Europe and request asylum there. This is reported by DELFI with reference to the data of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic.

As noted by the department, by now the security officials managed to delay only 146 finking illegals. According to most of them, the escape of people pushes the bad living conditions and fears in refusing to receive asylum.

Most often, the refugees illegally leave the camps in the counter and Pabra. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania has already promised to strengthen the protection of these centers to prevent further attempts to escape to other countries of the European Union (EU).

Previously, the Deputy of the Seimas Lithuania Linas Jonauskas proposed to squeeze for 20 years to jail those who participate in the organization of illegal migration. In his opinion, such a measure will be a signal that Lithuania does not intend to put up with such illegal activities.

The migration crisis on the EU eastern borders began at the end of May. Large groups of illegal migrants from Africa and the Middle East, which turned out to be in the Belarusian territory, storm the borders of Lithuania, Poland and Latvia in the hope of obtaining refuge in the European Union. In this, the EU accuses the authorities of Belarus and personally the President of the Republic of Alexander Lukashenko. It is assumed that they use the National Tour Operator “Centerkurort” for the illegal crossing to the borders of Western countries and earn it.
