Catholic clergy members in France were subjected to violence more than 200 thousand children and called for victims to keep silence for the protection of the reputation of church institutions. This is reported by CNN with reference to the report published by the Independent Commission on Sexual Violence in the Church (CIASE).
According to the data, from 1950 to 2020, more than three thousand rapists from 115 thousand priests and other priests worked in the French Catholic Church. The number of minors survived with rape may increase to 300 thousand, if we take into account victims of people who were not clergy, but had other ties with the church, such as Catholic schools and youth programs.
“The cruel treatment of minors in the church is about 4 percent of all cases of sexual violence in France,” said the President of the Commission Jean-Mark Owl. He stressed that these crimes are still continuing and are systemic.
Earlier, the American State of New York abolished the limit of limitations for consideration of lawsuits about sexual violence. Residents could be submitted to the court to churches, hospitals, schools, camp, scout groups and other institutions, which, in their opinion, are responsible for crimes against personality, felling of pedophiles and child abuse. During this time, the courts received more than nine thousand complaints. They touched the priests, teachers and ruined four Roman Catholic dioceses. Some citizens got a chance to attract their long-standing offenders.
