Uzbekistan abandoned dialogue on military bases with United States

Uzbekistan refused to negotiate with the United States on providing its military bases to accommodate the equipment and forces of the NATO operation in Afghanistan. About this in a conversation with RIA Novosti, the deputy chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Sadyk Safaev.

According to him, the Uzbek authorities cannot lead such a dialogue in principle, since “the legislation does not allow this.” At the same time, representatives of Washington appealed to Tashkent with an appropriate request, not reported.

Previously, the Wall Street Journal newspaper with reference to sources reported that the United States was interested in the possible use of Russian military bases in Central Asia. According to the publication, the head of the United Committee of the United States Headquarters, General Mark Milli, and the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, at a midnight meeting in Finland on September 22, was discussed.

Similar information came and about military facilities of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. It was noted that this is necessary to support the Film Government of Afghanistan and deterrencering the activities of the Taliban terrorist organization (prohibited in Russia).
