Germany has no alternative to the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. Moreover, it should not be, told “Izvestia” a deputy of the European Parliament from Germany Gunnar Beck.
According to the deputy, the Energy Policy of the Country Chancellor Angels Merkel “put Germany in a prank position”: On the one hand, the authorities abandoned nuclear energy, on the other – did not take into account that the wind energy costs expensive and cannot replace other sources.
“No matter what illusions of German government can feed about other forms of” green “energy sources, they cannot provide the German industry and households with reliable energy supplies in which they need,” the Beck explained as proof of that the Russian gas pipeline has no alternatives.
“North Stream-2” can be launched in the near future. The Federal Network Agency FRG demanded from the project operator to confirm that the gas pipeline meets the EU standards. Gas in the first branch has already begun to download.
