Deputy General Director of Roskosmos State Corporation for International Cooperation Sergey Savelyev revealed the future of exploitation of the Proton-M’s heavy launchier after 2025. His words report RIA Novosti.
According to him, the question of the continuation of the operation of the rocket was discussed many times. “But still, this is a rocket with harmful fuel and the population of Kazakhstan, this question causes a rejection. It is no longer planned to return to this issue,” he said. At the same time, according to agreements with Kazakhstan, until 2025, Proton will be operated both in commercial and federal launches.
In July, the 11th Rocket of Proton-M Rocket was held. From the Baikonur cosmodrome, the carrier brought into space a 20-ton multifunctional laboratory module (MLM) “Science”.
In the future, Proton-M is planned to be replaced with the “hangar” rocket. It uses environmentally friendly fuel components – oxygen and kerosene.
