Lukashenko spoke of escape of Tikhanovskaya from Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with CNN spoke about the escape of the representative of Svetlana Tikhanovsky’s opposition after elections. According to him, no one forced her to leave the country.

TV channel argues that Lukashenko rejects the statements that Tikhanovskaya, who did not recognize the results of the presidential elections and left the country, was forced to escape from her. “I swear with my children that Tikhanovsky did not run anywhere,” said the head of Belarus.

Previously, he, speaking of a former rival in the elections, spoke about her with the words “I’m not fighting with women.” According to him, the leader of the opposition is “a person living in a specific country and has another point of view.”

Alexander Lukashenko became president of Belarus in 1994. In August 2020, he once again participated in the elections. The CEC stated that Lukashenko scored 80 percent of the votes, Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent. The country began mass protests that lasted for several months. A number of opposition politicians and activists were arrested or left Belorussia. Tikhanovskaya is located in Lithuania.
