Contract for the supply of Russian gas to Moldova, which is completed in September 2021, was extended until the end of the next month. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic and the Minister of Infrastructure and Infrastructure Minister Andrei Schyna wrote about this on its page on the social network Facebook, TASS reports.
“In order not to jeopardize short-term supplies, a few minutes ago we confirmed the extension of the contract between Moldovagaz and Gazprom for one month. The agreement is extended under the same conditions on which Moldova received gas in September,” the Minister report.
Earlier in the Moldova Parliament, most deputies refused to discuss the extension of the contract for the supply of Russian gas. During the meeting, which took place on Thursday, on September 30, the deputy Oleg Raidman offered his colleagues to hear Andrei Schuna on the topic of extending a contract with Gazprom, but to hear the speech of the Deputy Prime Minister to the Republic, we agree only 28 deputies with a minimum of 51.
In May 2021, Gazprom decided to recover from “Moldovagaz” a debt of $ 370.5 million (almost 27 billion rubles) for the fuel supplied in 2018. Prior to this, Moldova President Maya Sanda actually refused to return the debts for gas to the Russian side, which were accumulated because of consumers on the non-controlled Chisinau territory of Transnistria.
