Authorities of South Korea began preparation for stable contacts with DPRK

The Government of South Korea began to prepare for stable contacts with the DPRK. This was stated by the Minister of Association of the Republic of Korea Li Yen, reports TASS.

According to the official, Seoul plans to discuss with Pyongyan the main issues of bilateral relations. “Once the channels are restored, we plan to repeat the proposal to create a system of meetings of divided families in video conferencing format,” the minister said.

Earlier, the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong Yun declared its readiness to restore contacts with South Korea. The launch of communication channels between Pyongyan and Seoul may occur already in early October 2021. Kim Jong Yun said that he was going on such a step for improving the current relations of the two countries and building peace on the Korean Peninsula.

In the summer of 2020, the DPRK interrupted all lines of communication with the Republic of Korea. Then the relationship between the two countries was aggravated due to sending propaganda materials to the territory of the North by South Korean activists. On June 16, 2020, North Korea blew up the Coordination Bureau in the Kaeson industrial complex.
