Nationalist Party has become most popular in Estonia

Conservative People’s Party (Ekre) for the first time in history has become the most popular political force of Estonia. This is evidenced by sociological studies of the company NORSTAT, conducted from September 1 to September 27, writes ERR.

According to the last survey, the popularity of the nationalist party reached 24.6 percent. It is noted that, on this background, up to 24.2 percent decreased the performance of the previous leader of voter preferences – the coalition party of reforms.

In third place in popularity was the Centrist Party, which was supported by 19.7 percent of respondents, at the fourth – “Estonia 200” (12.2 percent of respondents), on the fifth – Social Democratic Party (8.9 percent).

For the conservative party “Fatherland” is now ready to give the votes of seven percent of voters, for “green Estonia” – 2.1 percent. Ratings of other political forces were below two percent.

In July, the leader of Ekre Martin Helm said that Estonia should be left from the European Union (EU) if his leadership continues the course to build a green economy. He stressed that the new energy program of Brussels, which the left political forces in Europe is maintained, is in incision with the national and economic interests of the country.

Before that, an ex-presidential candidate of Estonian and the former speaker of the Estonian Parliament Hennes Põlluaas during the Ekre Congress demanded to return part of the territory. According to politics, the Russian authorities should give Estonians part of the right bank of Narva and Pechora district.
