The basic scenario of Russia’s offensive in Poland and Lithuania involves the advancement of Russian troops in Belarus, which was worked out by Moscow and Minsk during the rear part of the joint teachings “West-2021”, tells the Polish edition of Defence24.
The publication states that “Belarus should be considered not only as important from a geopolitical point of view of the region, but also as a key area for offensive and defensive operations in the Poland-Lithuania-Belarus triangle,” allowing Russian troops through the Savyvki corridor to enter Kaliningrad Area.
The publication notes that in a potential conflict, the infrastructure of the Belarusian railway system acquires important, ensuring the rapid movement of forces and resources, as well as Belarusian military polygons, allowing to take large forces and place them in field camps.
According to Defence24, comprehensive rear teachings preceding the active phase “West-2021” should be considered as an inspection of the possibilities of Belarusian and Russian military on the organization of the rear maintenance of the material and technical base of the offensive in the event of a military conflict with the Western Party.
The publication writes that the scenario of Russian-Belarusian teachings suggested damage to the railway infrastructure (bridges), which it was necessary to restore the forces of railway troops and civilian specialists. Defence24 notes the modernization of the Belarusian railway infrastructure.
The publication describes that engineering and fortification works were carried out in the course of the exercises, including, for example, the organization of earthy trenches for infantry and technology, creating obstacles to promote the enemy’s technique, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the communication line and the training of helicopter platforms.
In September, Defence24 Edition wrote that Russia currently has about 3,500 tanks, 7300 infantry combat machines and 4500 armored personnel carriers, as well as 4800 artillery systems, mortars and binding systems of salvo fire.
