The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko promised “not to run” after the resignation from his post. This was announced on September 28 at an expanded meeting of the Constitutional Commission, transfers BelTA.
Commission Member Vladimir Basko appealed to Lukashenko with a request after the resignation “try to stay in the role of the guarantor of independence, peace of mind and the world of Belarus.”
“I answer immediately to the question so that you did not have cravings: I never ran nowhere and not run!” – said Lukashenko.
Previously, he made it he could lead the All-Relforous People’s Assembly, which is planned to give constitutional status.
September 28 Lukashenko announced that the preparation of the draft new constitution, the work on which was carried out from March of the current year, was completed.
Lukashenko declared the need to change the Constitution against the background of mass protests, which covered Belarus after the presidential elections in August last year. He promised that after the adoption of a new fundamental law of the country would leave his post and would not hold the power of “messenger hands.”
In August, the Constitutional sent to Lukashenko finalized proposals for the amendments.
