President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko commented on information about his plans to head the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly (VNS) and determine who will be the new leader of the country. It is reported by BelTA.
According to Lukashenko, even if he heads the VNS, then only the people will be determined with the candidate of the new president. “As we define the Constitution, the president will be elected,” he said.
Earlier, Lukashenko said that VNS will receive a constitutional status. He also suggested submitting a meeting with the authority to change the Constitution.
In August, Lukashenko stated that in case of the accuracy of the state coup in the country, the government should move to the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. According to him, the Government should prepare for all possible scenarios of the change of power, and VNS in this regard will play an important role.
September 28 Lukashenko announced that the preparation of the draft new constitution, the work on which was carried out from March of the current year, was completed.
