Three Polish regional councils will cease to infringe upon the rights of LGBT after the European Union threatened them to stop monetary aid for millions of dollars. Reports about it Reuters.
Council members in Subcarpathian, Lublin and Malopolsky Voivodeship voted for the refusal of the statuses of “LGBT free zones”. The Subcarpathian Regional Council adopted a new ruling, which declares the voivodship “region of established tolerance.” “We support the right of parents to educate children in accordance with their convictions,” said local authorities.
Previously, the Poland’s Cell Voivodeship Parliament also canceled the Anti-LGBT resolution, for the sake of obtaining funds under the React-EU program aimed at helping to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. The authorities of the voivodship stressed that they will oppose any discrimination, as well as eliminate it within their authority and competencies.
In early September, the European Union threatened to block 126 million euros, which should have been allocated to local governments from the cohesion fund. Money can lose those voivodeship, where laws infringe upon the rights of gays, lesbians and other sex minorities are operating.
