Kyrgyzstan: restricted smoking hookahs and cigarettes

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zaparov signed the law “On the protection of the health of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic (CR) from the consequences of tobacco consumption, nicotine and the impact of surrounding tobacco smoke and aerosol.” Reports about it “Sputnik Kyrgyzstan”.

The law is aimed at strengthening measures to combat tobacco and the use of all types of tobacco products. Its authors have previously stated that tobacco consumption is the main cause of mortality and disability in Kyrgyzstan.

In particular, the adopted document prohibits smoking cigarettes and hookahs in public places. The restriction also extends to cafes and restaurants. In addition, the law introduces a full ban on any advertising of all tobacco products.

In July, Deputy Minister of Health of Russia Oleg Salagai reported that his department intends to adopt new measures to combat smoking after the global report of the World Health Organization (WHO). According to him, they suggest the production of impersonal cigarette packages, as well as a ban on the use of dyes, flavors and additives in tobacco products, enhance dependence.
