In Belarus, completed the preparation of the draft new Constitution, the work on which was carried out from March of this year. This was stated by the President of the country Alexander Lukashenko, summing up the preliminary results of the work of the Constitutional Commission, BelTA transmits.
According to politics, he himself took an active part in creating a new Basic Law of Belarus. The head of state pointed out the huge amounts of work done, including the study of the global trends of constitutional legislation.
“Behind the month of hard work, great work, disputes, complaints about each other. On our appeal to take part in the development of a new editorial office of the Basic Law, a huge number of people responded, including public associations,” said Lukashenko.
The Belarusian leader added that in the draft Constitution not all proposals were taken into account, and this issue may be raised during a nationwide discussion, since the main law is primarily created for the Belarusian people. In conclusion, he stressed that the referendum on the new edition of the Constitution will be held no later than February 2022.
Lukashenko declared the need to change the Constitution of Belarus against the backdrop of protests engulfed the country after the presidential election in August 2020. He assured that after the adoption of a new version of the principal law leaves his post.
