Ambassador of Russia revealed expectations on “Northern Flow-2” after election in Bundestag

Ambassador of Russia in Berlin Sergey Nechaev revealed expectations about the obligations of Germany on Northern Pokhota-2 after elections to the German Bundestag, which was held on September 26. His words transmits TASS

“Waiting here is one thing: concluded contracts must be carried out, despite the considerations of political conjuncture,” said Nechaev. The Russian side is counting on the fact that the responsibility associated with the work in the government will push the politicians opposing the project, “to abandon the election rhetoric in favor of serious work for the country’s benefit.”

Diplomat noted that the absolute majority of politicians in Germany realizes the need for gas as transitional raw materials in the conditions of “energy reversal”. Russia is ready to supply it on the most favorable and transparent conditions, for which it was built “Northern Stream-2”, which “is extremely demanded by German consumers.”

Two Northern Stream-2 gas pipes go from Russia to Germany for the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The capacity of the gas pipeline is 55 billion cubic meters per year. Before starting gas pumping, it is necessary to conduct commissioning work, as well as certify the highway. Bloomberg sources argue that shipments may begin on October 1, but in the Bundestage doubt it.
