Scientists declared a reduction in the life expectancy in 27 countries from 29 in 2020 compared with 2019 figures. This is reported in the study of the University of Oxford, published in International Journal of Epidemiology.

The most expected life expectancy has decreased among men in the United States (for 2.2 years) and Lithuania (for 1.7 years). More than a year, this figure decreased among men in 11 countries and among women – in eight.

According to the conclusions of scientists, the reduction of the life expectancy has occurred due to the increase in mortality among people over 60 years. A pandemic COVID-19 also led to a decrease in life expectancy.

In May, Professor School Biology School Biology University of George Mason Ancha Baranova said that during a pandemic, the average life expectancy in developed countries was reduced by one and a half or two years. Similar indicators, according to a scientist, should be observed in Russia.
