Germany may lose leadership positions in Europe after the departure of Angel Merkel from the post of federal chancellor. A German political scientist Alexander Rar expressed this opinion, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the scientist, the future chancellor from the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDPG) Olaf Scholz will be in a weaker position than Merkel, since only 25 percent of voters voted for him. He noted that the Chancellor will be difficult to create his political line and stick to its course.
RAR also stated that the current situation may be aggravated in the event of changes in power in France, where presidential elections will be held in April 2022. “France will go aside” right “, Germany – in the direction of” left-green “. As far as this engine, German-French will be able to continue to stabilize Europe – a big question,” he predicted.
Political analyst added that in front of Berlin there are many challenges with which you need to cope. He expressed doubts that the new chancellor would quickly get comfortably and continue the politics of Merkel. “I think that Germany and France are at least a year from the game, because they must consolidate their own power, their own impact” – concluded RAR.
Previously, the scientist said that both parties were leading in the elections to the Bundestag, lost in advance. In his opinion, the Christian-Democratic and Christian Social Unions (XDS / HSS) suffered a defeat this time, and the SDPG – either eight years ago, since they used to be supported by about 40 percent of the country’s inhabitants, and now about 25 percent.
