Moldavia received military equipment from the US government to participate in peacekeeping operations. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic with reference to the head of the department of Anatoly Nausess.
According to him, the cost of deliveries amounted to five million dollars (about 363 million rubles). He said that weapons are necessary for the implementation of the development plan and transformation of the National Army, the reform of which began in 2018 and is aimed at improving the combat capability of the troops.
“Supply of equipment has become possible thanks to many years of positive cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America,” said the novel.
The Minister of Defense did not specify which equipment was supplied to Moldova, but noted that by the end of the year several more batches of equipment are expected, which will be distributed in various parts of the army.
Earlier, Moldavian President Maya Sanda stated that the new government of the republic needs the support of the United States to implement its political program. The head of state indicated that in the plans of the new government, a large-scale struggle against corruption, reforming the judicial system, modernization of the fields of education, health care, as well as agricultural policies and ecology.
US military-technical cooperation and Moldova is based on the Memorandum “On cooperation in the military field between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the United States Department of Defense”, which was signed on December 4, 1995.
